Abe Natsumi was one of the original members of Morning Musume, and she became the front girl and face of the group for several years, leading most of the early songs. Abe graduated from Morning Musume in January 2004 to concentrate on her solo career.

In November 2004, Abe was suspended for plagiarism after it was revealed that some of the poetry and other written work released by her had been taken from other sources and passed off as her own. She returned in February 2005 with a public apology, and has continued her musical career.

In early 2008 she release a single with Yajima Maimi.

Most fans thought she is Abe Natsumi’s younger sister but actually she is not. They have no relation to each other though she got the same name as Natsumi’s younger sister’s name.

She is a member of Si*Na, a group from H!P Kansai. Some fans called her as Yasuda Kei’s younger sister.
